Today we want to share with you the story of Cardell, a story that began almost fifty years ago and that cannot be understood without the two people who made it possible: our parents.
In the late 1970s, our parents opened their first shop on Calle Lonja de Caballeros in Alicante. It was called Comercial Cardell, and although today you know us for watches, back then it sold a little bit of everything: radios, televisions, cassette tapes... and even then it was an official Seiko dealer. Above all, it was a business built on personal service, where every customer was known by name.
In the early 1980s, the business moved to Jorge Juan 11, the premises we still occupy today. Over the years, the shop became increasingly specialized in watches, and the brands you see on that old storefront—Orient, Seiko, Lorus, Casio—speak for themselves about that evolution.
He, behind the counter, always with that patience that comes from truly knowing a trade. She, always present in the shop too, taking care of so many little details that made a customer feel welcome.
In the mid-to-late 1990s, a new generation arrived at the shop. In 1998, we took another step and opened a second premises at Pintor Cabrera 9 to accommodate the growing demand for watches, especially with the arrival of brands like Casio G-Shock, which had a huge impact in those years.
Over time, it was decided to focus all efforts on a single premises, and Jorge Juan 11 closed so we could devote ourselves entirely to Pintor Cabrera 9.
In 2016, we returned to Jorge Juan 11, where everything had begun in the 1980s. It was a full circle that, looking back, makes a lot of sense: returning to the same place where the foundations of all this were laid.
That same year, we also made the leap into the online world with cardellwatchstore.com as a continuation of our presence on eBay since 2004.
Today, almost fifty years after that first shop on Lonja de Caballeros, Cardell is still what our parents dreamed of: a trusted place to choose a watch and to care for it over the years. We represent brands such as Casio, Zeppelin, Bauhaus, and Diloy, we continue our activity on portals like eBay, which we started in 2004, and every day we open the doors of the same premises where it all began.
Everything Cardell is today we owe to them, for building this business with patience and a personal touch, and for always supporting it from within, for teaching us and helping us at every moment. That is the legacy we try to keep alive every day.
